BSc (Hons), PgDip

I am a Senior Clinician and Director for Psychotherapy Solutions - I offer almost a decade of combined training and therapeutic experience in the fields of neuropsychology, mental health and wellness.

About me

I am a local girl by birth but spent a couple of years exploring different cities across the UK when I turned 18 years old. I finally relocated back 'home' following the arrival of my daughter and after overcoming some of my own personal difficulties I returned to studying.

My own experience of therapy was incredible, and it truly allowed me to let go of the past and focus on a much brighter and more hopeful future - at this point I knew my calling in life was to help others through their own psychological difficulties.

I live with my partner, our beautiful teenage daughter and 3 American Bulldog Fur babies.

When I am not at work, I love to explore the Lake district countryside and have recently taken an interest in wild camping and wild swimming (I am still getting used to the cold water and noises in the night however) ... but, I also love to binge a good TV series or curl up with a book on those soggy Cumbrian days!

My qualifications and experience

I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with an honours degree in Neuropsychology after studying human physiology and sociology at Furness College in Barrow.

Following this, I progressed to study at the University of Cumbria where I spent two years achieving a postgraduate diploma in advanced practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I initially supported clients who had suffered brain injuries alongside my undergraduate degree, then I offered a free CBT clinic alongside my post-graduate degree course for additional practical experience with clients.

Following graduation, I developed my skills and have built a successful private practice working with many people of different ages, experiencing a variation of emotional and psychological conditions.

My client base includes self-funded clients, employees referred through local business contracts, including solicitors and insurance companies, local authorities, schools and other education settings, and I often collaborate and consult with other charities and non-profit organisations.

Since finalising all of my university studies I have continued to self-fund for diplomas in Mindfulness-based CBT, life coaching/health and wellbeing coaching, and certificates in safeguarding for children, adults and families.

I have also obtained qualifications allowing me to deliver child and young people's mental health support, self-harm and suicide prevention, and mental health first aid in the workplace.

Presently, I am studying towards a diploma in Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), and training to become an internationally accredited creative mindfulness practitioner.

BSc (Hons), PGCE

I am a person-centred counsellor and my sessions create a safe space for you while catering to your individual needs and requirements.

I have always possessed a strong desire to help people on an emotional level and when I graduated from university in 2004 with an honours degree in Applied Psychology, my journey towards applying that to a career began.

My next step in that journey took me to Manchester University in 2006, where I completed a certificate in Psychotherapy skills and began to volunteer with the Samaritans for several years until I completed Level 2 in Therapeutic Counselling - this led straight into completing my Level 4 in Therapeutic Counselling.

Following this, I joined CRUSE Bereavement Cumbria as a volunteer and supported clients across Cumbria for a number of years.

I am a member of the BPS (British Psychological Society) and am accredited by the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists).

In addition to my work in voluntary organisations I have also had the privilege of being able to offer my services to young people in a school setting. Throughout my career to date, I have supported many individuals of various ages with various psychological issues.

I counsel individuals from the age of 14 years and can provide a therapeutic program to help with issues surrounding self-esteem, confidence and resilience building, trauma, bereavement, anxiety and depression.

I believe in the power of transformation and that every human has the potential to fulfil their own life path. I hope to be able to help you on your journey through life and be of assistance to those who may have lost their way or may be struggling to identify or overcome barriers.

Every session in confidential and within the boundaries and ethics of the BACP code.
